This 8-week, 240 hour training program provides hands-on instruction on fundamental medical billing practices, software and terminology, preparing individuals to manage medical and health insurance operations, data entry and record keeping. Content covers:
- Scheduling appointments
- Registering patient information
- Insurance verification
- Pre-authorization and referrals
- Insurance billing with single and multiple payers
- Accounts payable & receivable
- Basic credentialing
- Medical coding using ICD-9 & CPT manuals
- Medical terminology using the Dean Vaughn system
With the help of job development staff, graduates have obtained employment at third party billing companies, private medical practices, nursing homes, hospitals, and private dental practices.

- Microsoft Word basics such as creating new documents
- Text entry and word swap
- Saving and printing files
- Formatting text and cells
- Microsoft Excel basics such as entering data
- Using formulas
- Copying and pasting data
- Keyboarding
- Customer service
- Work experience in an office setting
Students completing this training will demonstrate the ability to use computers in a variety of work settings. With the help of job development staff, graduates have obtained employment as receptionists, administrative assistants, shipping and receiving clerks, and customer service representatives.

TEAMhealth2 (Train, Employ, Advance, Mentor) is a Certified Nursing Assistant training and Career Laddering Program with concurrent trainings in allied health professions. Career Laddering opportunities include CNA II, Certified Medication Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Registered Nurses. Trainings for allied professions include Home Makers, Medical Billing, and Medical Office Assistant. The program follows the model practices of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions by providing strong assessments, job readiness, case management, and employer development activities through collaborations with an array of training and employer partners.
The next class session begins May 24, 2010.
In order to be considered for this class you must attend one of our weekly informational sessions. Information sessions are held every Wednesday at 3pm at FRCA's Employment & Training Center, 55 Main Street, Woonsocket. No pre-registration is required, simply walk-in.
