Our licensed foster families provide a structured and therapeutic family environment for youth who can safely be placed in the community but who cannot live with their biological families. The program utilizes a team based approach to help foster parents meet the emotional & behavioral needs of the children placed in their homes.

The Foster Family Support Program (FFSP) provides home based services to kinship foster families in Rhode Island and comprehensive and supplemental case management focused on Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) foster care licensing.

The Northern RI Visitation Center serves families of children in the care of the Department of Children, Youth and Families due to substance use or mental health concerns. Families are able to have supervised visits in a home-like setting while receiving the support in their recovery. The Center, located on Orchard Street, Woonsocket, serves up to 30 individuals referred by DCYF. The program provides for:
- Supervised Visits - Visits in a home environment with a focus on everyday family activities.
- Clinical Oversight - Consultation and assessment, observation and clinical work around visits, assistance with coordination of supports and help with parenting skill building.
- Family Recovery Coaching - Support with the recovery process, information and resource connections and help navigating the child welfare system.
- Transportation- transportation for the children to visits, if needed.

The Family Preservation Program provides care coordination and direct services to families with children experiencing developmental delays, mental health concerns, encounters with the juvenile justice system, or those at risk of abuse/neglect. Staff is available to assist in the following areas:

Individual parent education and guidance

Teen issues

Referrals to community services

Crisis intervention and stabilization
Additional support/programs include: Group parenting classes, Family Court Diversion Program, and Long Term Parent Aide. There is no cost to families for these services although insurance coverage may be accessed if available.
Service Area: Woonsocket, Cumberland, Lincoln, North Smithfield, Smithfield, Burrillville, Foster, Glocester, Scituate, Johnston and North Providence.

Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) - is funded by DCYF in collaboration with Region IV to strengthen families with a comprehensive array of community resources and supports. The program uses wrap-around principles to provide intensive outreach services for families in need of long term stabilization to avert placement or to assist one or more children and their parents in being reunified from foster care or other placements.
Youth in substitute care and their families are at a critical point in life. Our staff and foster families are vital components of treatment as they attend to the needs of youth and their families.
We are always in need of foster families for both short and long-term placements, as well as families to serve as respite care providers for current foster parents.
FRCA is seeking Foster Parents to help provide placements for Youth ages 13- 18 years of age.
