Employment & Training participants find success in the job market, area youth help lead the development of a new community garden, the community comes together to help the homeless, staff are honored for their commitment to the community. These are just some of the FRCA stories that have been highlighted recently about our many programs that help strengthen individuals, families and the community.
Woonsocket Celebrates Installation of New Art Bike Racks - Over forty community members from local organizations, businesses, and City government came together on June 29th to celebrate the installation of eleven art bike racks to promote green commuting and to beauty the city. The Better Biking project was coordinated by FRCA's Way to Work Center with funding from LISC & NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley, with additional support from local businesses and organizations. The bike racks were designed by The Steel Yard, painted by RiverzEdge Arts Project and installed by The Steel Yard with assistance from the City of Woonsocket. Read full news article.

Employment & Training Graduates Ready for Work - Twenty four participants in FRCA's Medical Billing & Coding and Computer & Customer Service Training Programs recetnly celebrated th completion of the 8 week training program in April.

Way to Work Shuttle - A new evening shift transportation service is available in Woonsocket. The Way to Work Shuttle provides evening hour transportation Mondays through Fridays from Diamond Hill area businesses when public bus service is not available. The pilot program is administered by Family Resources Community Action in collaboration with Valley Transportation Corp. with funding from the Federal Transit Authority JARC (Job Access and Reverse Commute) program and The Rhode Island Foundation. GrowUp! Garden - A group of Bryant University Students have organized a fundraiser for the GrowUp! Community Garden that was sponsored by Papa Gino's on Diamond Hill Rd, Woonsocket. The project is part of the Bryant Management 200 Service Learning Project. Student leader Martin McGeehan of Woonsocket (pictured at far left) said his group hopes to secure garden supplies and volunteers in addition to monetary donations to keep the garden sustainable. "All of the work put into it is helping the less fortunate of Woonsocket who struggle to provide food for themselves and their families," he said. Click here to view news article.
